New editions of two reference books on drug interactions and herbal medicines published

New editions of two reference books have been published by the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s publishing arm).

Stockley’s drug interactions’ is described by the Pharmaceutical Press as “the world’s most comprehensive and authoritative reference book on drug interactions” and the eighth edition contains over 300 new monographs.

Coverage of herbal medicines, dietary supplements, foods and fruit juices has also been extended. All existing entries have been thoroughly reviewed and revalidated for this edition and review monographs have been added to aid the understanding of the mechanisms behind the interactions.

The eighth edition is available for £135 from the Pharmaceutical Press.

Herbal medicines’, now in its third edition, is described by the Pharmaceutical Press as “a comprehensive, single source of scientifically rigorous, impartial information on over 150 of the most commonly used medicinal products”.

The third edition has been extensively revised and updated and contains 152 full colour, comprehensively referenced monographs which detail the phytochemical, pharmacological and clinical aspects of each herb.

The third edition includes new monographs on butterbur, greater celandine, kava and rhodiola.

The volume contains product information from over 30 countries including Australia, Germany, the UK and the US. ‘Herbal medicines’ costs £75.
