Nottingham captures hearts

Nottingham City NHS Primary Care Trust is working with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry to identify people at risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

As part of the CVD Primary Prevention Project, also known as Happy Hearts, specialist computer software will be used to target people in the most deprived areas of the city. Trained staff in GP practices will then work with those at risk of developing CVD to improve their health. The project will run for 18 months.

Jan Balmer, regional facilitator for the ABPI, said that local community pharmacists will be invited to the project launch due to take place on 6 December 2007.
