Practice payment to increase

Community pharmacies in England are to get an increased practice payment of 34.5p per prescription item from 1 January 2008.

The increase — from 25.2p — is being paid in order to make sure that pharmacies achieve the agreed national target for purchase profit income. Practice payments were cut two months ago because pharmacies were deemed to be making too much profit.
