Michael Schofield, a former lay member of the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, was designated an honorary member of the Society by the Council last week.

Professor Schofield served on Council for eight years and was trustee of the Benevolent Fund.

Presenting him with his certificate, Hemant Patel, the Society’s President, commended Professor Schofield for his “strong commitment to the Society and the profession.”

He added that Professor Schofield’s service to the Society had been exceptional and that the Council had benefited enormously from his extensive experience of management and governance.

Professor Schofield currently sits on the Pharmacy Regulation and Leadership Oversight Group, set up to oversee the creation of a General Pharmaceutical Council and the establishment of a leadership body for pharmacy.

“The Society is facing a spaghetti junction of opportunities and challenges. I have every confidence that [the] Council will take the right road,” he commented.
