The Society’s annual fitness to practise declaration: correction

The Society wishes to thank those members who have brought an omission in the wording of the annual fitness to practise declaration to its attention, and takes this opportunity to apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

The wording of part 1b of the declaration should read: “I am applying for retention in the non-practising register and under articles 3 (2) and 11 (2) of the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Order 2007, I hereby declare that I will not undertake any work or give any advice in relation to the dispensing or use of medicines, the practice of pharmacy or the provision of healthcare in Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, whilst acting in the capacity of or holding myself out as a pharmacist.”

The Society will continue to read and interpret signed declarations as though they contained the text above.

Guidance produced by the Society for deciding whether to be practising or non-practising, particularly the sections “Myths and misconceptions” and “Exercising professional judgement”, remains current despite amendment to the definition of practice made by the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Order (2007) and is available online (PDF 580K).
