Deputy registrar sought

Advertising has started in order to fill the newly created post of deputy registrar of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

The new post, which has a six-figure remuneration package (see pA27), has been created in anticipation of the transfer of the Society’s statutory and regulatory roles to the planned General Pharmaceutical Council in 2010.

The new deputy registrar will take on overall responsibility for the Society’s fitness-to-practise, registration and relevant educational functions as it works towards the separation of its regulatory and professional body functions. Elements of the post were previously covered by Phil Green who retired at the end of last year.

Asked whether the deputy registrar was expected to become the leader of the GPhC, the Society said: “The creation of the GPhC is a matter for the Government.”
