MR prednisone has benefits

A modified release formulation of prednisone has shown promising results in a randomised rheumatoid arthritis trial published in The Lancet (2008;371:205).

The new tablet, known as Lodotra and manufactured by Nitec Pharma, reduced both the duration of morning stiffness of the joints as well as levels of the proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 compared with the same dose of standard prednisone in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis.
