Text to find nearest pharmacy

Anyone wanting to find out the location of their nearest pharmacy, or other healthcare provider, can now do so using a pilot SMS text messaging service from NHS Direct.

All they need do is to text the name of the service required — pharmacy, GP, dentist, optician, walk (for walk-in centre), casualty or hospital — followed by their postcode location to 61121. In response, the system will send a text message back giving the name, distance, telephone number and address, where this is available, of the requested service.
