Advice issued on capacity improvement programme

Advice for community pharmacy contractors in England on how to minimise errors and problems associated with changes to the processing of prescriptions has been issued by the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee.

A PSNC document provides an overview of the capacity improvement programme, which the NHS Business Services Authority Prescription Pricing Division is now extending to all community pharmacies in England, and advice for contractors whose prescriptions are being priced using this system.

It also explains some of the processing issues that may lead to errors in payment for some prescription items, provides guidance on avoiding problems and summarises support available on known implementation issues.
