Novartis reports everolimus successInvestigation of everolimus — also known as RAD001 — has been stopped early by Novartis after the primary endpoint of its study was successfully met. Interim results from the phase III research showed significantly better progression-free survival for patients with advanced kidney cancer who received the drug, compared with those on placebo. Patients in the placebo arm of the study are to be offered everolimus. Novartis expects to apply for European regulatory approval later this year. |
