EU applications up

Applications for new marketing authorisations under the EU’s centralised procedure are expected to rise by 12 per cent in 2008, according to the European Medicines Agency’s 2007 annual report.

The report notes that applications in 2007 were 15 per cent up on 2006, with 65 opinions being finalised for submission to the EC. Cancer medicines were the most represented therapeutic category, followed by anti-infective agents.
