Two members elected unopposed to Council and three to Scottish board
Two candidates in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Council election have been successful without having to face a poll because they were the only candidates in their categories. And three pharmacists retiring from the Scottish Pharmacy Board will return to their seats without an election because there are no other nominations for the four available unreserved places.
The two Council members are Margaret Allan, also known as Margaret Jones,
who was the sole candidate for the place for an elected pharmacist reserved
to the national constituency of Wales, and Yvonne Liddell, who was the
only candidate put forward to fill the vacancy for one of the two pharmacy
technician places on the Council.
Mrs Allan, who lives in Penarth, is already serving on the Council, having
taken office in September 2007 after a by-election to find a successor
to Colin Ranshaw, who had resigned in June 2007. She works as sessional
prescribing support for Cardiff local health board and as a locum and
consultant pharmacist.
Miss Liddell, from Weston-Super-Mare, has for the past three years been
area dispenser for Somerset for the south-west region of Alliance Pharmacy.
The three pharmacists returning to the Scottish Pharmacy Board are Alistair
Jack, Charles Tait and Billy Templeton. The fourth retiring board member,
Howard McNulty, has decided not to seek re-election, and the board will
fill the fourth vacancy by co-option.
Mr Jack, from Cupar, is director of pharmacy for NHS Tayside and a former
employee of Boots The Chemists.
Mr Tait, based in Ayr, is professional development manager for the northern
region of Boots UK.
Mr Templeton, whose home is in Troon, is clinical development manager
for Lloydspharmacy in Scotland.
