New staff safety and security campaign launched in Kent

A campaign to reduce the abuse of NHS staff has been launched in Kent following an analysis of statistics that reveals that 1,870 staff members in the region have been physically assaulted by patients over the past three years.

The campaign — “Your choice of treatment” — delivers the message that patients who assault NHS staff face prosecution and possibly prison. A spokeswoman for the NHS Security Management Service said that there are plans under consideration to roll out the campaign to other regions.
