Check heart function in ADHD

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder should undergo cardiac evaluation before treatment with stimulant drugs, according to the American Heart Association.

The AHA recommends performing an electrocardiogram and suggests that blood pressure checks should be conducted initially within one to three months of treatment and then every six to 12 months.
