Risk of AF with alendronate

Use of alendronate is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), a new study suggests.

After examining alendronate use among women with AF and among controls, the researchers estimate that 3 per cent of incident AF in clinical practice might be explained by use of alendronate (Archives of Internal Medicine 2008;168:826).
