New development programme

AstraZeneca’s AZD0424, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is the first drug to enter Cancer Research UK’s clinical development partnerships programme.

The programme was launched to support the development of promising anticancer agents by offering companies an alternative to traditional out-licensing. The manufacturer retains rights to the drug throughout its development.

Cancer Research UK and Cancer Research Technology, the charity’s development and commercialisation arm, announced the arrangement this week.

AZD0424 is expected to enter trials within 18 months.
