BRM seeks continued facility to pay Society fees by cheque

A motion calling for a choice of method for paying the Society’s fees, including payment by cheque, was carried by the branch representatives’ meeting.

Proposing a motion to that effect, Anthony Cox (Birmingham) said that the removal of the ability to pay by cheque was discriminatory towards older members.

Michael Jepson (Birmingham), seconding, said that the motion had been largely overtaken by events, but the letters sent to members on the matter could probably have been more supportively and caringly worded.

Bill Brookes (South Cheshire) said that the chequebook was still a useful means of paying. He did not like credit and debit cards.
