Advice to patients (8) Atenolol tablets
- Atenolol tablets are used to treat several conditions, most commonly high blood pressure, chest pain (angina) and heart problems.
- It is important to keep on taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to stop. If you suddenly stopped taking the tablets, your condition could worsen even though you might feel well.
- Some people who have respiratory problems, such as asthma or bronchitis, should not take atenolol. Have you had any of these?
- A few people have side effects with atenolol, such as feeling weak or tired, having cold hands and feet, vivid dreams or trouble sleeping. These symptoms may go away; if they persist or are troublesome tell your doctor. If you have difficulty breathing, contact the doctor straight away.
- Some medicines you can buy for coughs, colds and hayfever can cause problems with these tablets. Ask me or the doctor before you take anything else.
