Advice to patients (17) Captopril tablets
- Captopril is used to treat high blood pressure and heart problems. It can also help prevent kidney damage in people who have diabetes.
- You should take the first dose of captopril when you go to bed because it might make you feel dizzy or faint. This especially important if you take water (diuretic) tablets as well.
- You can take captopril tablets on an empty stomach or with food. Try to take them at the same time each day.
- Like all medicines, this one can have some unwanted effects. These include skin rashes, dry cough, dizziness, upset stomach and loss of taste. Tell your doctor if any unwanted effects are persistent or troublesome.
- Problems can occur if captopril is taken with some other medicines. Are you taking any other prescribed medicines or medicines you have bought?
