Advice to patients (5) Ranitidine tablets
- Ranitidine tablets can be taken with food or on an empty stomach, whichever is easier for you.
- The tablets may make you feel better within a few days, but you should carry on taking them or the symptoms could come back. The doctor will tell you when to stop taking them.
- They work by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. Side effects are rare.
- If you only take the tablets once each day, it is best to take them at bed-time because the stomach usually produces most acid at night.
- Some indigestion remedies you can buy contain very similar ingredients to these tablets. Make sure you ask me or the doctor before you take anything else.
