Julie Thomas is AAH hospital pharmacy technician of
the year
The title of the AAH hospital pharmacy technician
of the year 2001 has been awarded to Julie Thomas, pharmacy technician
at Colchester General Hospital. The award recognises the role of pharmacy
technicians in the pharmaceutical distribution chain.
To qualify for the award, technicians had to submit
a paper of 1,500 words describing their involvement with an aspect of
the pharmaceutical supply process. The title of Ms Thomas’s paper was
“An investigation into the feasibility of a ward-based clinical pharmacy
technician”.
As part of winning the award, Ms Thomas will enjoy
an expenses-paid trip to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
mid-year clinical meeting. It is to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana
from 2 to 6 December, when Ms Thomas will have the opportunity to present
her paper.
