New mental health institute formed
The Government has formed a national institute for
mental health in an effort to promote changes and improvements in mental
health services in England.
The Department of Health said, on 9 July, that the
National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE) is intended to
co-ordinate research, disseminate information, facilitate training and
develop mental health services.
The NIMHE will be led by Professor Louis Appleby,
who is the national director for mental health.
