Scottish model pharmaceutical care scheme to begin soon

Work is getting under way on how the model schemes for pharmaceutical care in Scotland will be further developed.

Anna Marie McGregor, appointed project director for the joint venture, a partnership between the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Scotland and the Scottish Executive, said she hoped to be able to announce the details of how the schemes would go forward in the near future.

"Unfortunately I can’t say much at the moment because the details of how the scheme will be facilitated locally are still being decided," she told Medicines Management. Currently, model schemes are focusing on the frail elderly, palliative care and those with severe and enduring mental health problems.
