Prescribing & Medicines Management
Issue no 1, p3
January/February 2003

Comment

Pharmacists are again given a boost to their clinical potential with the publication of the NSF on Diabetes. Although not put centre stage as they are in the NSF for Older People, nevertheless those pharmacists who wish to become involved in the care of patients with diabetes are encouraged to do so. It will be up to the individual pharmacist to forge good working relationships with doctors and nurses already providing specialist care for these patients. Alternatively, their PCT might be persuaded to put them in touch with other like-minded individuals who would be interested in providing care for patients with diabetes, particularly in an area where there is no commmunity service yet in existence.

With supplementary prescribing set to become a reality for pharmacists this year, this newsletter has been given a minor face lift to reflect the change. It is now called Prescribing & Medicines Management. It will still appear bi-monthly and each issue will be a different colour so that readers will more easily pick out the latest issue. P&MM would also like to hear from readers of their experiences of getting going as prescribers.

If this is the first copy of Medicines Management you have seen and would like to join the mailing list, please send your details to pmm@rpsgb.org.uk. Free copies are available for all pharmacists (please include your registration number) and for nurses and doctors with a professional interest in medicines management.
