Pharmacies hold society together

Research on how community pharmacies link in with regeneration efforts may prove helpful in identifying how pharmacies could help attract new services to deprived areas, according to the authors of a study presented at the 12th International Social Pharmacy Workshop, Australia.

Dr Paul Bissell from the University of Nottingham said community pharmacies had a role to play in enhancing social cohesion and trust because they were often less formal than GP surgeries (Journal of Social and Administrative Pharmacy 2002; 19(6): 230.
