Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation (HOPE) study investigators. Effects of ramipril on cardiovascular and microvascular outcomes in people with diabetes mellitus: results of the HOPE study and MICRO_HOPE substudy. Lancet 2000;255:253.

The risk of major cardiovascular outcomes was reduced by 25-30per cent. This benefit was greater than would have been expected based on blood pressure reduction alone.
