Primary Care Pharmacy March 2000 Vol 1 No 2 p45LettersOptimum Review Periods
Madam, - As a pharmacist involved in a quality initiative for repeat prescribing systems in a health care co-operative, I am interested in identifying optimum review periods for drug managed disease states. To date I have contacted a number of different organisations (including SIGN) and there does not seem to be a formal list in existence. I have looked to the Australian system, and they base their pharmaceutical schedule on the premise that it is reasonable for the patient and the medication choice to be reviewed at six monthly intervals - granted, the associated population is significantly lower and patients have to pay a fee for a GP consultation.
