Secondary prevention SIGN guideline launched

SIGN Guideline Number 41 - Secondary prevention of coronary heart disease following myocardial infarction - was launched at the end of January. This, together with Number 40 - Lipids and the primary prevention of coronary heart disease - provides recommendations based on clinical evidence for the management of lipid lowering and reduction of coronary heart disease risk factors.
While these are Scottish guidelines and will have implications for local health care cooperatives and primary care trusts, they also provide a valuable summarised source of clinical trial information, economic implications and primary references which will be useful to any pharmacist involved in primary care. These guidelines can be accessed at the SIGN website on www.sign.ac.uk.
