Schenk BE, Kuipers EJ, Nelis GF, Bloemena E, Thijs JC, Snel P, et al. Effect of Helicobacter pylori eradication on chronic gastritis during omeprazole therapy. Gut 2000;46:615-21.

The authors investigated to see if eradication of H Pylori at the start of therapy could prevent development of gut changes. It was concluded that, after a 12 month period, eradication prevented increased corpus gastritis but longer follow up is needed to determine if atrophic gastritis can be prevented.
