Dr Feda Mulhem
Dr Feda Mulhem had been a specialist registrar for two days at the Queen’s
Medical Centre, Nottingham, and not the City Hospital, when he instructed
a senior house officer to give a vincristine injection that proved fatal
(PJ,
27 September, p397).
Inspectors’ preregistration talks
Details of presentations for preregistration trainees by Royal Pharmaceutical
Society inspectors will be sent to trainees and tutors in a special mailing
and not with a preregistration bulletin in November as stated last week (p433).

Vertical transmission of HIV
The antiretroviral therapy recommended to prevent vertical transmission of HIV is zidovudine, not azathioprine as stated in The
Journal, (30 August, p273).
Genus products
Genus has told The Journal that Felotens (felodipine XL) tablets are in pack sizes of 30, not 28 as the company previously stated, and that tramadol is available as capsules, not tablets.

Archana Daniels
The name and registration number of Archana Daniels (86731) were erroneously
included in the recent list of pharmacists erased
from the Register of Pharmaceutical
Chemists for non-payment of the 2003 retention fee (PJ, 19 July, p100).
Mrs Daniels retired from the register in 2002 and has not purported
to be a registered
or practising pharmacist during 2003. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society apologises
unreservedly to her for its error and for any embarrassment it may have caused.

Wales
Ending prescription charges in Wales will benefit around
50 per cent of all patients in Wales (1.5 million), not 11 per cent as stated in last week's
news feature (p856).
BPC programme
The AstraZeneca Industrial Achievement
Award was accidentally omitted from last week's summary of this year's British Pharmaceutical
Conference programme (p869, PDF (120K)).
The award will be presented at noon on the Tuesday to Dr John Staniforth, of Vectura, who will
speak on "Difficult drugs and easy administration: meeting the 21st century challenge for inhaled,
oral and dermal product developments". |
