A consultation
on the regulations relating to the “responsible pharmacist” (replacing “personal
control”) has been launched by the Department of Health. A new strategy for managing medicines information in the NHS has been
launched by UK Medicines Information (UKMi) Building on its 2000 strategy, the new strategy takes into account political, policy and organisational change in the NHS. It details five aims for UKMi, including reflecting a patient-focused NHS and collaborating with other organisations at national level. Updated guidance on good practice regarding Controlled Drugs in secondary care in England has been published by the Department of Health. Advice covers the appointment of destruction witnesses by accountable officers, record keeping requirements and the possession and supply of CDs by operating department practitioners. Interim guidance on future requirements for requisitions and record keeping has also been published. |
