Cardiff pharmacy student wins SET award

Peter Penson receiving the award from senior European GSK executive Norman BoweryPeter Penson was awarded the GlaxoSmithKline award for the best pharmacology student at the UK science, engineering and technology awards held in London.

Mr Penson, who graduated in pharmacy with first class honours from Cardiff University this year, won the prize for his final year project, an evaluation of the vasodilator activity of nifedipine.

He is pictured (right) receiving the award from senior European GSK executive Norman Bowery.

Following his preregistration training, Mr Penson intends to return to Cardiff University to study for a PhD.
