Statutory Committee inquiriesThe Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN, on Monday 10 September 2001 at 10am to hear (1) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which includes allegations that failure to account for supplies of Viagra made from the pharmacy, failure to identify and remedy poor practices relating to the recording of the supply of prescription only medicines from the pharmacy and failure to ensure that prescriptions ordering Controlled Drugs were dispensed only within their period of validity amounts to misconduct. The Committee will also hear (2) an application for restoration from a person whose name was removed from the Register. The Statutory Committee will further meet on Tuesday 11 September 2001 at 10am to give (3) the Committees reasoned decision following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society alleging misconduct against a pharmacist heard before the Committee on 19 June 2001. The Committee will also hear (4) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which alleges that several dispensing errors committed by the pharmacist amounts to misconduct and (5) an application for restoration from a person whose name was removed from the Register. The Statutory Committee will further meet on Wednesday 12 September 2001 at 10am to hear (6) an inquiry into a pharmacist convicted of theft. The Committee will also hear (7) an inquiry into an applicant seeking registration with the Society convicted of criminal damage and common assault, driving with an alcohol level that exceeded the prescribed limit and failure to provide a specimen for laboratory testing. The Statutory Committee will further meet on Thursday 13 September 2001 at 10am to hear (8) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a company, the director and superintendent pharmacist of the company and the pharmacist responsible for the preparation of monitored dosage system (MDS) trays, which includes allegations that failure to take adequate steps to prevent the dangerous and poor practices adopted in the assembly of MDS trays and failure to ensure that assembled trays contained the correct medicines at the correct strength as called for by the prescription, amounts to misconduct.
