Statutory Committee decisions (22 September 2001)There follows the outcome of recent inquiries heard before the Statutory Committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. On Monday 10 September 2001, in the application for restoration of Johur Husseen, of 46 Caistor Close, Manchester 16, the committee resolved to direct that the name of Mr Husseen should not be restored to the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. In the inquiry into Shirazali Rajabali Jetha Panjawani, of 120 Golders Green Road, London NW11, heard before the committee on Monday 10, Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 September 2001, the committee found the allegation of misconduct established and directed the Registrar to remove Mr Panjawanis name from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. The chairman, Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC, will give the committees reasoned decision on Thursday 11 October 2001. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from 11 October 2001, the date on which reasoned notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn. On Tuesday 11 September 2001 the chairman, Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC, gave the committees reasoned decision for postponing the inquiry into Vinaykant Jayantilal Bhatt, of 8 Bernays Close, Stanmore, Middlesex, first heard before the committee on 19 June 2001, on terms for six months. In the inquiry into Karam Al-Nimri, of 2 Old Brompton Road, Suite 403, London SW7, the Committee resolved to adjourn the inquiry until Wednesday 10 October 2001. In the application for restoration of Jaswinder Singh Daffu, of 11 Ingham Grove, Lenton Gardens, Nottingham, the committee resolved to direct that the name of Mr Daffu be restored to the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. On Wednesday 12 September 2001, in the inquiry into Paresh Joshi, of 21 Lessar Court, Lessar Avenue, Clapham South, London SW4, the committee found the conviction proved and directed the Registrar to remove Mr Joshis name from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn. In the inquiry into Paul Gadsden, of Craigmill Cottage, Balmoral Road, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, the committee found the convictions proved but resolved to take no further action in the matter and directed that Mr Gadsdens name should be registered on the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. On Thursday 13 September 2001, in the inquiry into Jaswinder Singh Channa, of 414/416 Green Lane, Seven Kings, Ilford, Essex, Sandeep Kaur Channa, of 6 Forest Lane, Chigwell, Essex, and Laser Impex Ltd, of 416 Green Lane, Seven Kings, Ilford, Essex, the committee found misconduct established against Mr and Mrs Channa and resolved to reprimand them.
