Statutory Committee inquiries

The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, on Tuesday 9 October 2001 at 10am to hear (1) an inquiry into a pharmacist convicted of driving with an alcohol level which exceeded the prescribed limit and in respect of whom there is in addition a complaint by the Council of the Society which alleges that the pharmacist’s inability to discharge his professional duties while engaged as a locum amounts to misconduct, and (2) a resumed inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which alleges that several dispensing errors committed by the pharmacist amounted to misconduct. (At the hearing on 13 July 2000 the committee found the alleged misconduct established but adjourned part of its decision on terms and on 16 July 2001 the committee adjourned the resumed inquiry for a further three months.) The committee will also hear (3) an application for restoration from a person whose name was removed from the Register.

The Statutory Committee will further meet on Wednesday 10 October 2001 at 10am to hear (4) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which alleges that several dispensing errors committed by the pharmacist amount to misconduct. The Committee will also hear (5) and (6) applications for restoration from persons whose names were removed from the Register.

The Statutory Committee will further meet on Thursday 11 October 2001 at 10am to give (7) the committee’s reasoned decision following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society alleging misconduct against a pharmacist heard before the committee on 10, 11 and 12 September 2001, at which the committee found the alleged misconduct established. The committee will also hear (8) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist which includes allegations that self-prescription of medicines with a known potential for abuse amounts to misconduct. If it proves necessary the Committee will continue hearing this inquiry on Friday 12 October 2001 at 10am.

M. B. Pawluczyk (Mrs)
