Conference practice research medal: call for nominations and applications (27 October 2001)Nominations or applications for the 2002 British Pharmaceutical Conference practice research medal are invited for consideration by the practice research adjudicating panel. It should be noted that the regulations and requirements for this award have been reviewed in 2001 (see p661). The award, which is sponsored by Chemist & Druggist magazine, is intended to recognise individuals aged up to 45 years of age who have made a significant contribution to the field of pharmacy practice research and have the potential to become leaders in the field. The winner of the medal will receive a cheque for £1,000 and will be required to deliver a 50-minute lecture at the 2002 Conference. The lecture should be based primarily on the applicant's own research but should also draw on relevant published work from related fields, including health policy. It will be delivered during one of the practice research sessions at the British Pharmaceutical Conference in September 2002. Applicants do not necessarily have to be based in a school of pharmacy and need not be pharmacists. International applicants are welcome. Those who wish to apply for the award, or to nominate a colleague, should forward a copy of the applicant's (nominee's) curriculum vitae and a short supporting statement (of up to two sides of A4) to the address below by 31 December. In February the panel will review applications and invite short-listed candidates to submit a lecture title, an outline of the research areas to be included in the lecture and a statement of how the research will contribute to knowledge in relation to health care generally and pharmacy practice specifically. A curriculum vitae that includes details of publications, professional and academic record, including peer review experience and significant grants held, will also be required if not submitted initially. The closing date for full applications will be the end of May 2002. The successful applicant will be notified in June. Applications should be submitted to Cathryn Andrews, Practice Research Secretariat, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN. |
