Statutory Committee inquiries (17 November 2001)

The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 November 2001 at 10am to hear (1) a resumed inquiry into a complaint against a superintendent pharmacist and company which alleges that the practices adopted in the preparation of medicinal products to be administered to patients by injection failed to comply with Standard Four of the Society's Code of Ethics and Professional Standards, and may amount to misconduct.

The Statutory Committee will further meet on Thursday 22 November 2001 at 10am to hear (2) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against an applicant seeking registration with the Society which alleges that the submission of a form on which the applicant forged the signature of the supervising pharmacist may amount to misconduct.

The Committee will also hear (3) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist which includes allegations that dispensing errors made by the pharmacist and the failure to take responsibility for them, the pharmacist's unhelpful, rude and abrupt attitude towards patients and staff and the poor working practices adopted by the pharmacist, may amount to misconduct.

The Statutory Committee will further meet on Friday 23 November 2001 at 10am to hear (4) and (5) inquiries into two pharmacists convicted of offences resulting from failure to comply with Regulations made under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

The Committee will also hear (6) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist which includes allegations that the pharmacist's failure, as a result of admitted problems caused by alcohol and debt, to deal with administration of post and paperwork to do with professional practice and practising as a pharmacist while removed from the Register for non-payment of retention fees, may amount to misconduct.

M. B. PAWLUCZYK (Mrs)
