Statutory Committee inquiriesThe Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN, on Monday 22 April 2002 at 10am to hear (1) an inquiry into a pharmacist convicted of driving with an alcohol level which exceeded the prescribed limit. There is in addition a complaint by the Council of the Society, which includes allegations that the pharmacist's inability to discharge his professional duties amounts to misconduct. The committee will also hear (2) an application for restoration from a person whose name was removed from the Register. The Statutory Committee will further meet on Tuesday 23 April 2002 at 10am to hear (3) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist which alleges that the pharmacist's conduct in stealing dihydrocodeine tablets for personal use amounts to misconduct, and (4) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist which includes allegations that the pharmacist's conduct in taking 1,000 Equagesic tablets for personal use when only 100 of these were authorised by a valid prescription and the pharmacist's failure to operate a safe system with respect to the provision of a repeat medication service amounts to misconduct. The Statutory Committee will further meet on Wednesday 24 April 2002 at 10am to hear (5) an inquiry into a complaint by the Council against a pharmacist, which alleges that several dispensing errors, committed by the pharmacist amounts to misconduct. The Committee will also give (6) its reasoned decision following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society heard before the Committee on 11 and 12 October 2001. The Council's complaint alleged that the pharmacist's conduct in self-prescribing medicines with a known potential for abuse amounted to misconduct. MARTHA PAWLUCZYK |
