Alterations to the Byelaws: Fellowship

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section XXVIII of the Byelaws that the Council of the Society has approved proposals to alter the Byelaws concerning fellows as hereunder and that it intends to make such alterations after the expiry of 60 days from the date of this notice, subject to such amendments as the Lords of the Privy Council may require.

Section III

Paragraph 4 — For "20" substitute "twelve".

ANN LEWIS
Secretary and Registrar

Note:
The effect of the Byelaw amendment is to reduce from 20 years to 12 years the minimum length of membership of the Society before a member can be considered by the Panel of Fellows for designation as a fellow. It is felt that the 20-year rule is inhibiting because people are making outstanding contributions to the profession much earlier in their careers than in the past.
