Statutory Committee inquiries

The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, at 9.45am on Monday 21 July, Tuesday 22 July and Wednesday 23 July 2003 to hear the following inquiries and applications:

Monday 21 July

1. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which includes allegations that the pharmacist's failure to maintain an accurate and complete register of Controlled Drugs purchased and supplied, failure to endorse prescriptions ordering Controlled Drugs with the date of supply and the supply of lorazepam against a prescription ordering loratadine may amount to misconduct.

2. An inquiry into the case of a pharmacist convicted of a number of offences resulting from failure to comply with Regulations made under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971

Tuesday 22 July

3. A resumed inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a superintendent pharmacist and company which includes allegations that the dispensing of chloramphenicol eye-drops against an unsigned prescription and an agreement between the superintendent pharmacist and a surgery that unsigned prescriptions could be directed to the pharmacy for dispensing may amount to misconduct.

4. An inquiry into a pharmacist convicted of a number of offences resulting from failure to comply with Regulations made under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

5. An application for restoration from a person whose name has been removed from the Register.

Wednesday 23 July

6. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which includes allegations that the dispensing of date-expired Erythroped A 500mg tablets, the pharmacist's failure to implement regular and effective date checking procedures for stock and to implement a complaints procedure and error/incident log and failure to be aware of the requirements for and to keep records of extemporaneously prepared products and specials may amount to misconduct.

7. An application for restoration from a person whose name has been removed from the Register
