Statutory Committee inquiries
The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, at 9.45am on Tuesday
16 March, Wednesday 17 March and Thursday 18 March 2004 to hear the following
inquiries:
Tuesday 16 March
1. An inquiry into a company following conviction of the company and its director
of a number of offences contrary to Sections 52 and 67 of the Medicines Act
1968. There is also a complaint by the Council of the Society against the
company which includes allegations that permitting the company to be open
for the sale and supply of medicinal products after failure to appoint a
superintendent pharmacist and providing information to the Society’s
inspector purporting to show that certain pharmacists had been on duty at
the pharmacy when this was not the case, amounts to misconduct.
Wednesday 17 March
2. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist
which alleges that working while signed off work on sick leave and claiming
sick pay to which the pharmacist was not entitled amounts to misconduct.
3. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a company
and its superintendent pharmacist which includes allegations that the supply
of chlormethiazole capsules to a patient without the authority of a prescription
amounts to misconduct.
Thursday 18 March
4. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist
which alleges that failure to request repeat prescriptions under a repeat
medication service offered to a residential home by the pharmacy and the
unlawful supply of prescription only medicines to residents of the home amounts
to misconduct.
