Statutory Committee decisions

Set out below are the outcomes of recent inquiries heard before the Statutory Committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

On Monday 17 May 2004, in the resumed inquiry into the case of Khushdil Hamoodi Fakir, of 2 Cannon Hill Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, Emmanuel Boateng Gambrah, of 29a Frederick Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, Sabrina Fakir, of 12 Upland Road, Selly Park, Birmingham, and Khushdil H Fakir Ltd, of 2 Cannon Hill Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, the committee resolved to direct the Registrar to remove Mr Fakir’s name from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn. The committee resolved to issue a reprimand to Mr Gambrah and to Miss Fakir. No order was made in relation to the company, Khushdil H Fakir Ltd.

In the resumed inquiry into Mrs Obiajulu Ejiofor, of 20 Chestnut Grove, West Norwood, London SE27, the committee resolved to issue a reprimand to Mrs Ejiofor.

In the resumed inquiry into Kuldip Singh Chana, of 121 High Road, Willesden, London NW10, and Paul Victor Hillstead, of 804 Samuel Lewis Trust Dwellings, Ixworth Place, London SW3, the committee resolved to direct the Registrar to remove both Mr Chana’s and Mr Hillstead’s names from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn.

On Tuesday 18 May 2004, in the new inquiry into the case of Hemantkumar Chandulal Patel, of Tip Northwoods, 57 Loampit Hill, Lewisham, London SE13 , the committee adjourned the inquiry part heard to a date to be fixed.

In the resumed inquiry into the case of Virinder Kumar Kumrai, of 74 Huntingdon Road, East Finchley, London N2, the committee adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.

On Wednesday 19 May 2004, in the resumed inquiry into the case of David Michael Beldon, of Clayton Heights, Sunderland Road, East Bolton, Tyne and Wear, the committee adjourned the inquiry part heard for further evidence to be obtained.

In the new inquiry into Nigel Kevin Carpenter, of 17 Kings Meadow, Clent, Stourbridge, West Midlands, the committee adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.

In the new inquiry into Sanjay Janubhai Patel, of 15 Barlow Close, Wheatley, Oxford, the committee resolved to adjourn the inquiry for a period of 12 months.
