Alterations to the Byelaws: Council code of conduct

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section XXVIII of the Byelaws that the Council of the Society has approved proposals to alter the Byelaws concerning the Council and meetings of Council (Section VII) as hereunder and that it intends to make such alterations after the expiry of 60 days from the date of this notice, subject to such amendments as the Lords of the Privy Council may require.

Section VII
Insert after Paragraph 8:

9. All Council members shall comply with the Code of Conduct for such members, as adopted from time to time by the Council, and with the procedures for its enforcement in the Council Governance Handbook. Such procedures shall include provision for the sanctions available in respect of breach of the Code including suspension or removal from office as a Council member.

Renumber the remaining paragraphs in this section accordingly.

Note: The effect of the Byelaw amendment is to make the Council Code of Conduct mandatory for all Council members. See also p780.
