Statutory Committee inquiries
The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
of Great Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, at 9.30am on Monday
24 January,
Tuesday 25 January, Wednesday 26 January and Thursday 27 January 2005 to hear
the following inquiries:
Monday 24 January
1. The committee will resume its inquiry from 13 December 2004 into a complaint
by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist which alleges that a failure
to honour an agreement to provide locum services and informing a pharmacy
manager that he was unable to work because of illness when he had arranged
to work as a locum and did work at another pharmacy on the day in question,
may amount to misconduct.
2. The committee will resume from 20 September 2004 consideration of an application
for restoration by a person whose name has been removed from the register.
3. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist
which alleges that the dispensing of Eucardic instead of bisoprolol, the failure
to deal with a patient’s complaint in an appropriate and timely manner
and deficiencies in dispensing and checking procedures may amount to misconduct.
Tuesday 25 January
4. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist
which alleges that the theft or misappropriation of approximately £800
from an employer with the intention of causing difficulties for a line manager
may amount to misconduct.
5. An inquiry into the case of a pharmacist convicted of theft.
Wednesday 26 January
6. The committee will consider an application for restoration by a person whose
name has been removed from the register.
7. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against a pharmacist
and a company which alleges that the submission of erroneous claims to the
Prescription Pricing Authority, resulting in an overpayment of approximately £52,000,
may amount to misconduct.
Thursday 27 January
8. The committee will resume its inquiry into a complaint by the Council of
the Society against a pharmacist which includes allegations that the theft
of prescription-only medicines from the pharmacy, in respect of which the
pharmacist received an adult caution from the police, and the self-administration
of prescription-only medicines from pharmacy stock may amount to misconduct.
