Statutory Committee decisions

Set out below are the outcomes of recent inquiries heard before the Statutory Committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

On Monday 21 February, Tuesday 22 February and Thursday 24 February 2005, in the new inquiry into the case of Ghislaine Brant (registration number 1025009), the Committee determined to adjourn the inquiry until March 2005.

On Wednesday 23 February 2005, in the resumed inquiry into the case of Beryl Wyn Jones (registration number 1011278) the committee determined to issue Mrs Jones with a reprimand.

On Thursday 24 February 2005, in the resumed inquiry into the case of Allan Stuart Black (registration number 70782) and Formans (Chemists) Ltd (registration number 1000525), the committee resolved to direct the Registrar to remove Mr Black’s name from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn. The committee resolved to take no further action against Formans Chemists Ltd.

In the resumed inquiry into the case of Warren Jon Berry (registration number 92149) the committee resolved to direct the Registrar to remove Mr Berry’s name from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn.

In the resumed inquiry into the case of John Edward Bradbeer (registration number 1034104), the committee determined to issue Mr Bradbeer with a reprimand.

In the resumed inquiry into the case of Jyoti Thakore (registration number 1024309), the committee determined to issue Mrs Thakore with a reprimand.
