Statutory Committee decisions
Set out below are the outcomes of recent inquiries heard before the
Statutory Committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
On Tuesday 24 May and Wednesday 25 May 2005, in the new inquiry into the case
of Krikor Melemetdjian (registration number 64863), the committee resolved to
direct the Registrar to remove Mr Melemetdjian’s name from the Register
of Pharmaceutical Chemists. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, this direction
is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the
date on which notice of removal is given or in a case where an appeal has been
brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn.
In the resumed inquiry into the case of Shital Nilesh Popat (registration number
84548) and PIL Limited (identification number 1086946), the committee decided
to issue Mrs Popat with a reprimand and to take no further action against PIL
Limited. The written reasons behind this decision are pending.
In the inquiry into Nigel Kevin Carpenter (registration number 79595), the committee
decided to issue Mr Carpenter with a reprimand.
