Statutory Committee inquiries
The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great
Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, at 9.30am on Tuesday 18 October,
Wednesday 19 October and Thursday 20 October 2005 to hear the following inquiries:
Tuesday 18 October 2005
1. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against Harold
Lomax (registration number 55293) and Harold Lomax Ltd (identification number
1000832), which alleges that the erroneous endorsement and submission to
the Prescription Pricing Authority of prescriptions resulting in overpayment;
a dispensing error; a failure to implement procedures to minimise the risk
of dispensing errors, in particular a failure to keep a record of such errors;
and the supply of medicines in contravention of the requirements for labelling
of a dispensed medicinal products may amount to misconduct.
Wednesday 19 October 2005
2. An inquiry into the case of Oluseyi Michael Alakiu (registration number
808322), who has been convicted of two counts of the supply of medicinal
products otherwise than in accordance with a prescription given by an appropriate
practitioner, contrary to Section 58 and Section 67 of the Medicines Act
1968; and being knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of prohibition
or restriction on importation of a Class A Controlled Drug contrary to s.170(2)(b)
of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.
Thursday 20 October 2005
3. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against Peter
Chiu (registration number 78926), Ajay Walia (registration number 76620)
and Anchor Health Ltd (identification number 1086763) which alleges that
the supply of prescription only medicines without the authority of a prescription
in circumstances where the conditions for a lawful supply were not satisfied,
and the failure to ensure that procedures designed to minimise risks were
formulated and applied, may amount to misconduct.
