Statutory Committee inquiries
The Statutory Committee will meet at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great
Britain, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1, at 10am on Monday to Thursday,
12 to 15 December 2005, to hear the following inquiries and applications:
Monday 12 December
1. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against Derek
Michael Phillips (registration number 75766) which alleges that discrepancies
in Viagra 50mg and 100mg stock, breaches of Regulation 19 of the Misuse of
Drugs Regulations, breaches of the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations,
a failure to deal appropriately with Controlled Drugs (failure to segregate
patient returns and date-expired stock), the supply of sildenafil without
a valid prescription, breaches of Regulation 6 of the Medicines (Sale and
Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 1980 and the condition of
the pharmacy, notwithstanding a warning from the Society Inspector, may amount
to misconduct.
Tuesday 13 December
2. A resumed inquiry into the case of Navjot Kaur Manku (registration number
1053064), who has been convicted of two counts of possession of a Class B
Controlled Drug; two counts of possession of a Class C Controlled Drug; and
two counts of theft.
Wednesday 14 December
3. An inquiry into the case of Harwinder Singh Doal (registration number 3000717),
who has been convicted of: using or threatening unlawful violence towards
another, contrary to Section 3(1) of the Public Order Act 1968; criminal
damage; possession of an offensive weapon, contrary to Section 1(1) of the
Prevention of Crime Act 1953; affray; religiously aggravated common assault;
breach of a community punishment order; and driving with excess alcohol.
Thursday 15 December
4. An inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Society against John
Joseph George Barnes (registration number 62087), which alleges that a dispensing
error, a failure to contact the prescriber for clarification, the dismissive
response to the error, a failure to keep an accurate record in the patient
medication record and a failure to record the error may amount to misconduct.
