Disciplinary Committee decisions

The Disciplinary Committee met on Monday 10, Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Friday 14 September 2007 and heard the following inquiries, under Statutory Committee rules (as provided for in the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Order 2007):

1. Following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society against Lawrence Simpson Mason (registration number 68483), the committee resolved to reprimand Mr Mason.

2. Following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society against Mark David Bowyer (registration number 76990), the committee directed the removal of Mr Bowyer’s name from the Register. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, the direction to remove Mr Bowyer’s name from the Register is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal was given or, in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn.

3. Following an inquiry into a complaint by the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society against Alexander Harper (registration number 75295), the committee directed the removal of Mr Harper’s name from the Register. Under Section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 1954, the direction to remove Mr Harper’s name from the Register is not to take effect until the expiration of a period of three months from the date on which notice of removal was given or in a case where an appeal has been brought against the direction, until the appeal is determined or withdrawn.

The Disciplinary Committee made the following further directions:

4. Following an application for restoration to the Register on behalf of Ramesh Mavji Patel (former registration number 90343), the committee directed that Mr Patel’s name should be restored to the Register. The committee further directed that Mr Patel work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist for a period of one year, subject to review after six months.

5. The committee reviewed the Order made on 18 April 2007 that the registration of Samuel Edwin Ashby (registration number R6879) be suspended for 18 months. The committee directed that the Order should continue in force. The Order is subject to further review within six months.
