Council elections 2008

I have received the following report from Electoral Reform Services of votes cast in the following:

Election of Council members 2008
My report of voting for the above election, which closed at noon on Friday 9 May 2008, is as follows:

Number of ballot papers distributed 47,585
Number of ballot papers returned 7,719
Number of papers found to be invalid (blank/spoilt) 43
Thus, total number of valid papers to be counted 7,676

Result (three to elect):
ASTBURY, Martin Keith 4,214 *
BARBER, Nicholas David 2,645 Elected
DUGGAN, Catherine Anne 3,395 Elected
HOLDEN, Michael William Stewart 1,774
KERR, Nanette 1,553
MOORE, Alison Margaret 2,119 Elected*
MULLEN, Ian Matthew 1,602
THOMSON, David Alexander Mcgillvray 1,311

*As Martin Astbury was elected in the National Constituency reserved to England seat, votes cast in his favour in this contest are void. In the circumstances, Alison Moore, being the first runner up, is elected.

Thus, total number of valid papers to be counted 6,289

HOLDEN, Michael William Stewart 926

National constituency reserved to Scotland 2008
Number of ballot papers distributed 4,323
Number of ballot papers returned 933
Number of papers found to be invalid (blank/spoilt) 3
Thus, total number of valid papers to be counted 930

Result (one to elect):
MULLEN, Ian Matthew 449
THOMSON, David Alexander Mcgillvray 481 Elected

The ballot papers will be stored securely for a period of 12 months before being destroyed.

I therefore declare that Nicholas David Barber, Catherine Anne Duggan, Alison Margaret Moore, Martin Keith Astbury and David Alexander Mcgillivray Thomson have been elected to the Council for three years.
